Martha Barron Griffith

BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] Martha is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary artist, art educator, and art conservator whose creative practice combines these fields to explore processes of learning, unlearning, repetition, and repair. She uses the creative process as a form of inquiry—often beginning with an artifact or story—to unravel multiple perspectives and relationship dynamics. In her role as a secondary educator, she bridges archival research with community-engaged artmaking, developing projects that connect historical inquiry with contemporary expression. Her work has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the National Film Board, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council. Martha holds a BFA in Animation and Education, an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art, Media, and Design, and a MAC in Art Conservation.
