Franziska Pflaum

BIOGRAPHIE

Born in 1987, Franziska Pflaum studied visual arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and film directing at Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, Potsdam-Babelsberg. She has made several documentary and fictional short films, which have been screened at film festivals around the world. She won the German Short Film Award in 2014 and the advancement prize of the Carl Mayer Screenplay Award in 2016. Franziska received a doctoral scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Start scholarship from the Austrian Federal Chancellery and the Berlin fellowship from the Akademie der Künste, Berlin. In Summer 2021, she will have her directing debut on the feature film Meerjungfrauen weinen nicht / Mermaids don’t cry.
