Minerva Rivera

BIOGRAPHIE

Minerva R. Bolaños was born on March 19th in 1988 in a public hospital in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, México. She studied Fine Arts, creative writing, graphic design and digital cinema in Chihuahua and in Guadalajara. In 2014 she started her career as a Film Director in Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica when she was 25 years old. In 2017 she founded the collective “Cineastas Unidas” (Film makers united) pursuing to eradicate the violence against women in her school and in the industry. She has participated in conferences with gender perspective about the role of women and their stories in film history with ALTRAFÍLMICA, and with ENAC in the conversation “Gender perspective in Film Schools”. In 2020 she organized and participated with Xácara Culture in alliance with UNESCO in the conversation called “The Social responsibility as a visual creator” part of the Women’s month celebration. She also was invited by INAH to the Sexual Diversity Cultural Week and was invited by the Tabasco Government to participate in the Film Club for tennagers “Light, camer, rights”. She gave voice to Frida Kahlo along with other recognized human rights fighters in the project “Frida’s Voices” by Yunuen Díaz. She currently works with Xácara Culture, in the area of direction and production of art and gender projects. In the industry she works in many works in many different areas, mainly as an Assistant Director, Production Coordinator and Documentary Maker. She recently started to dabble in editing and postproduction, “Anywhere” is one of her first projects as an editor.
