Jamie (he/him) is a queer Pākehā writer & director based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Kiwi born and bred, his films have gone on to win notable awards at NZIFF, Show Me Shorts, France's Festival Des Antipodes, and the Oscar-qualifying Nashville Film Festival. Along the way, Jamie climbed the ladder on blockbusters like Lord of the Rings and Avatar. He is a scholarship graduate of NYC Film Academy, and an alumnus of Script to Screen's FilmUp Mentorship Programme, and the MIFF Accelerator Lab. As a commercials director, he has ranked in Best Ad’s top 10 Kiwi directors, and received multiple craft awards at A-list shows. Jamie has two feature films in early development with NZFC – sci-fi fantasy drama SKIN, based on EARTHLINGS, and biopic SOLO, based on the true story of the first woman to circumnavigate New Zealand in a kayak. Cinematic, emotional, and rooted in character, the heart of his work explores the healing power of the natural world, and the fight to feel safe in your own skin.
