Sarah Lotfi

BIOGRAPHIE

Sarah R. Lotfi, is an American writer-director born to an Iranian father and Chinese-American mother. In 2009, she helped launch the Intersections Film Festival featuring women filmmakers from the Middle East. As a writer/director she is most known for her award-winning film 'Menschen' on disability in the last days of WWII (available on AppleTV/Amazon/GooglePlay). Her script HEARD was a semifinalist with American Gem program. She has worked on productions including HBO's Cinema Veritae (2011), and Chloe Zhao's The Rider (2017). Lotfi has presented on independent filmmaking for the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva and New York City, taught courses in film studies at the University of Colorado, and is an alumnus of the Transatlantic Talent Lab with Reykjavik International Film Festival. She is a frequent panelist on film festival strategy, crowdfunding, and micro-budget filmmaking. Her approach to filmmaking has been featured in WIPO magazine (Geneva, Switzerland), The Huffington Post (New York), Film Courage (Los Angeles), and Screen Read (Bonn, Germany). In 2018, Sarah founded the production company Dog and Rose Media, where she continues to produce content.
