Léa Rogliano

BIOGRAPHIE

Born in 1982, Léa Rogliano is a multidisciplinary artist based in Belgium. Unclassifiable by choice, Léa Rogliano likes to combine medias. Her productions touch mainly upon issues such as gender, geopolitics and issues related to the progress of digital technology. Her work seeks to free ones perception, ask questions, denounce any form of control or power through image and advocates daydreaming, unproductivity, contemplation, humour, irreverence, theory and analysis. At the beginning of her career, she was an actress for the company Arcinolether directed by Christophe Cotteret. The company that works between Belgium and Lebanon, produces documentary and political theatre about the conflicts in the Middle East. In 2012, Léa decides to concentrate on her own projects and turns decisively towards image. In 2013, she completes her first experimental short film Belles Endormies (Sleeping Beauties), which deals, in a poetic and compelling way with the image of women in the consumer society. Belles Endormies went on to be broadcast in many international festivals. In 2014, she begins Virtual Travel Journal about North Korea where she looks at how the last "country without Internet users" is represented on the web. She creates a video installation and a series of conference documentaries and research on this subject. In 2017, she completes a second experimental short film entitled SHIFT and develops her first virtual reality interface where she shows part of her research on North Korea. In association with Christophe Boucher, she launches the Singularity/Tech collective, which develops a series of virtual reality interfaces.
