After studying journalism at Universidad de Palermo, Franco Volpi left Buenos Aires and moved to Vienna, Austria, where he lived and worked for nearly eight years. Over that time, Franco discovered that his real passion was in film. After much consideration, he moved to Spain, where he studied Film Directing at the Ciudad de la Luz Film School, under Pablo Berger (Torremolinos 73, Blancanieves, Abracadabra). After graduating, he moved to the UK to complete an MA in Filmmaking at the London Film School, chaired by the legendary filmmaker Mike Leigh. There, he has worked as a Writer, Director, Editor, and in the Camera, Lighting and Sound Dept on numerous short film and documentary projects, digitally, on 16mm and 35mm film. His graduation film, August Sun (Sol de agosto) was officially selected at 50+ international film festivals; it was shortlisted for a BAFTA Student Film Award; nominated for a Student Academy Award and won numerous awards. So What Did We Learn Today Georgina, a comedy, is his latest short film.
