Caroline Caza

BIOGRAPHIE

Caroline is both an animation artist and a teacher. She was born in rural Saint-Anicet and tried to adapt to the urbanity of Montreal for many years. Finally, she returned to the Huntingdon area where she reconnected with nature. As a teenager, she would have liked to be the village veterinarian, but considering the size of the cows, she chose visual arts and theater instead. This led her to a master's degree in theater at UQAM where, for her thesis, she used Kandinsky's work to explore the links between sound, form, color and movement. One immediately thinks of animation, but in fact she would have liked to be an animator even before becoming a veterinarian. Her talent for explaining and justifying her disparate choices naturally led her to teaching. A certified teacher, she has worked in every possible and impossible setting, from elementary school to university. She learned a lot, including that it was better to be a student. Between her contracts, she acquired additional training at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal in traditional 2D animation and at the Collège de Bois- de-Boulogne in 3D animation. In a former life, she also worked at Cinar and Ciné-Groupe on some of their most important productions. Over the years, her eclectic career choices have contributed to her own path in animation, that of following her instincts and listening to the multiple "voices" that inhabit her. While she intends to continue exploring the diversity of mediums and styles in animation, she confesses a penchant for short films that are totally exploded, abstract or meaningless. Today, she has a dozen short films to her credit that have been presented at various festivals around the world.
