Kami García

BIOGRAPHIE

Kami García es una cineasta mexicana. Estudió dirección cinematográfica en el Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), en la Ciudad de México, así como un máster en cinefotografía en la École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière (ENSLL) en París, Francia. Trabajó como continuista y asistente de dirección en películas como “Blanco de Verano” (Summer White) de Rodrigo Ruiz Patterson, y “Todo lo demás” (Everything Else) de Natalia Almada. Como guionista y directora, fue acreedora a la Beca para Jóvenes Creadores, otorgada en 2020 por el Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) para la escritura del largometraje “Secuelas”. Actualmente se encuentra desarrollando su proyecto de ópera prima, “Olas fantasma”, el cual obtuvo el apoyo para escritura de guion en 2019 y el apoyo para desarrollo de proyecto en 2021, ambos por parte del Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE). Ha escrito y dirigido varios cortometrajes, entre ellos, “Larva”, su proyecto de tesis, el cual se estrenará en 2023, y “Aire” (Air), cortometraje que ha sido proyectado en más de 40 festivales de cine alrededor del mundo. - Kami García is a Mexican filmmaker. She studied film direction at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), in Mexico City, as well as a master in Cinematography at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière (ENSLL) in Paris, France. She has worked as an assistant director and script supervisor in several movies, such as “Blanco de Verano” (Summer White) by Rodrigo Ruiz Patterson, which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, as well as “Todo lo demás” (Everything Else) by Natalia Almada, which won the Sundance Directing Award for Documentary in 2009. As a writer and director, she won a grant to develop the feature film script for Secuelas (Aftermath) in 2020, from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA). She is currently developing her first feature film project, which is called “Olas fantasma” (Phantom Waves), for which she won a grant to write the script (2019) and for Project development (2021), both from the National Cinematographic Institute of Mexico (IMCINE). She has directed several short films before, such her thesis film “Larva”, which will premiere in 2023, as well as “Aire” (Air), a short film which was screened in more than 50 film festivals worldwide and has been viewed by more than eighteen million people on youtube.
