BIOGRAPHIE
Pol Merchan was born in Lleida, Spain, in 1980. In 2007, he obtained a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and in 2014 an MA in Art in Context from the Berlin University of Arts. Merchant lives and works in Berlin as an artist and filmmaker. His work have been seen internationally in numerous galleries and museums including The Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCB), The Art Centre of La Panera (Lleida), Àngels Barcelona Gallery, District Kunst- und Kulturförderung (Berlin), Kunstraum Bethanien (Berlin), Schwules Museum (Berlin), The Contemporary Art Centre (Vilnius). “Familiar Memories” his debut film, has been shown internationally in Film Festivals like L’Alternativa Barcelona Independent Film Festival, Int. Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Haverhill Experimental Film Festival, The Stu- ttgarter Filmwinter - Festival for Expanded Media, Kurzfilmfestival Köln, International Short Film Week Regensburg, Winnipeg Underground Film Festival, or MIX NYC - NY Queer Experimental Film Festival. In 2017 he won the Xposed Queer Short Film Fund and the Research Fellowship from the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in Berlin.
