BIOGRAPHIE

Marcos Cabotá, Miembro de la Academia de Cine, nació en Palma de Mallorca el 31 de enero de 1981. Estudió en Bellver International College para luego graduarse en la Universidad Europea de Madrid en el año 2005. Posteriormente, cursó un graduado en New York Film Academy (Universal Studios, Los Ángeles).   Al regresar de Los Ángeles, comenzó a trabajar en el guion de su primer largometraje, Amigos…, que finalmente rodó en el año 2010 junto a los actores Ernesto Alterio, Diego Martín, Alberto Lozano, Goya Toledo y Manuela Velasco. Amigos... se estrenó el año 2011 y obtuvo el Premio del Público en el Festival de Málaga. En el año 2013 rodó y estrenó el cortometraje 24 Horas con Lucía, protagonizado por Alberto Lozano y Alexandra Palomo. El cortometraje obtuvo reconocimiento nacional e internacional con más de 70 premios y más de 100 participaciones en Festivales de todo el mundo. Entre otros premios, recibió en prestigioso Meliés d´Argent y el Premio Nocturna al Mejor Cortometraje Español de 2014. Paralelamente produjo el cortometraje Foley Artist, dirigido por Toni Bestard, que también obtuvo un gran éxito en critica y en Festivales alrededor del mundo. El cortometraje fue Finalista en los Premios Goya de 2015. Ese mismo año, volvió a juntar fuerzas con el director de cine Toni Bestard para escribir el guion del documental I Am Your Father, una película que cuenta la historia de David Prowse, el actor que estuvo detrás de la máscara de Darth Vader en la trilogía original de Star Wars. Dirigido por Marcos Cabotá y Toni Bestard, el film tuvo una muy buena acogida por la crítica y obtuvo una Nominación a los Premios Goya como Mejor Película Documental, siendo estrenado en el Festival Internacional de Sitges. En 2014 coproduce la película El Destierro, dirigida por Arturo Ruíz. La película es rodada entre la Sierra de Madrid y la Sierra de Mallorca. Cuenta la historia de dos soldados desterrados en el olvido, que aunque muy diferentes entre ellos, ambos encuentran un interés en común. Una mujer rebelde capturada. La película, recibe numerosos premios en Europa, Estados Unidos y Asia. En el 2014 es invitado por los representantes de Michael Jackson para asesorar la producción del disco póstumo del cantante: Xcape, publicado ese mismo año. A principios del 2017 estrena Cien años Después, una película que homenajea los cien años de vida del Real Mallorca.   A finales del 2017 presenta Noctem, película de género protagonizada por Adrián Lastra, Esteban Piñero, Álex González, Diego Ingold, Carla Nieto y Miriam Hernández. La película gana el Premio del Jurado y el Premio del Público en el Festival de Cine de Sant Cugat. En 2018 estrena La Jaula en el Festival Festibérico de Holanda, a la vez que el cortometraje Glitch que la hace ganador de una docena de premios a lo largo del año. Su cortometraje documental Kyoko (co-escrita y co-dirigida junto a  Joan Bover) gana el Festival de Málaga y le hace valer una nueva Nominación a los Premios Goya.   Actualmente se encuentra en la producción de su nuevo largometraje, Sonic Fantasy. Subsequently, he graduated from the New York Film Academy (Universal Studios, Los Angeles).   Upon returning from Los Angeles, he began working on the script of his first feature film, "Amigos...", which finally was shot in 2010 with the actors Ernesto Alterio, Diego Martin, Alberto Lozano, Goya Toledo and Manuela Velasco. "Amigos..." was released in 2011 and won the Audience Award at the Malaga Film Festival.   In 2013 he filmed and premiered the short film "24 Hours with Lucia", starring Alberto Lozano and Alexandra Palomo. The short film had national and international recognition with more than 80 awards and more than 100 participations in festivals around the world. Among other awards, he received the prestigious Meliés d'Argent and the Nocturna Award for the Best Short Film of 2014. At the same time, he produced the short film "Foley Artist", directed by Toni Bestard, who also obtained great success in critics and in Festivals around the world. The short film was Finalist at the 2015 Goya Awards.   That same year, he returned to join forces with film director Toni Bestard to write the screenplay for the documentary "I Am Your Father," a film that tells the story of David Prowse, the actor who was behind the mask of Darth Vader in the original trilogy of Star Wars. Directed by Marcos Cabotá and Toni Bestard, the film was well received by the critics and it obtained a Nomination to the Goya Awards for Best Documentary Film, being premiered at the Sitges International Film Festival. In 2014 he is invited by Michael Jackson´s Estate to advise in the production of the posthumous record of the singer, Xcape, published that same year.   At the beginning of 2017 he premiered "Cien Años Después", a film that celebrates one hundred years of life of the soccer team Real Mallorca. At the end of 2017 he presents "Noctem", a horror film starring Adrián Lastra, Esteban Piñero, Álex González, Diego Ingold, Carla Nieto and Miriam Hernández.
