BIOGRAPHIE

Ovsanna is an Armenian writer/director with an MFA degree in film directing from Columbia University. Her short film Tale of the Anguished Gardener (2019) was selected for the Raindance,(UK), the Golden Apricot (Armenia), and the Pomegranate (Canada) film festivals in 2019. Her debut feature film script, "My Heart Is Like Those Ruined Houses," was selected for the E-BRIDGES. East of West Film Days 2021 and won the Grand Prix at the Armenian Pitching of the GAIFF PRO industry platform in 2022. Ovsanna's short film "Orphanhood" (2022) received the Best Cinematography Award from the Cinematographers' Guild of Armenia. Her TV series project "Land of Nairi" was part of the Torino Film Lab Next - TV Series 2022, Series Lab 2022 of the Doha Film Institute, and of Qumra market, 2023. Ovsanna was one of the 20 young filmmakers to be part of the Chanel and BIFF Asian Film Academy in 2022. Her short script “Paid Mourners” won the “Best Short Film Project” award at the GAIFF Pro: Short Cuts Nest pitch competition 2023.
