James began his directing career shooting ambitious narrative and conceptual music videos. His work is known for its offbeat tone, creative vision and versatility. Now London-based, he works across narrative, music videos and commercial work to bring his uniquely cinematic touch to projects, often creating surreal worlds with narratives exploring youth, sexuality and identity. He has screened at festivals including BFI Future Film Festival, Aesthetica Short Film Festival and Raindance Film Festival, and venues including the BFI, BAFTA and the ICA. Recent clients include Island Records, Virgin EMI, Sony Germany, Universal and Parlophone. He continues to pave his own way, directing exciting stories across music promos, fashion films and commercials. His debut narrative film Leopard, supported by ARRI & Framestore, is currently on the festival circuit.
