BIOGRAPHIE
Paolo Chianta is a Scottish writer and filmmaker based in London. After studying at the London Film Academy, he was selected for the BBC Writersroom Comedy Script Room 2020/21, the London Library Emerging Writers Programme 2021/22 and BAFTA Connect 2023. Paolo’s short film PUNDERTON screened at the 2021 London Short Film Festival and Flatpack Film Festival. In 2021/22, his short film TAP RUNNER screened at the Slamdance Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, Glasgow Short Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, London International Animation Festival, Athens International Film and Video Festival, Fantoche International Animation Film Festival, Bolton International Film Festival (Award Nominee: Best 3 Minute Quickie), Linoleum Contemporary Animation and Media Art Festival, The Smalls Film Festival, British Shorts Film Festival in Berlin and SI-FAN Festival before premiering on the NoBudge platform. His most recent film, THE ROLE, received a Judges' Special Mention at the 2023 London International Animation Festival. Paolo was recently funded by the Arts Council of Ireland to produce animation for an upcoming feature film and he was commissioned to write a TV sitcom pilot with Balloon Entertainment. His original drama for BBC Radio 4, EAT AND RUN, starring Emma Sidi and Dustin Demri-Burns, was selected as the BBC Drama of the Week podcast and shortlisted for Best Original Single Drama at the 2024 BBC Audio Drama Awards. Paolo is represented by 42 Management.
