BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] Malin Barr is a Stockholm-born filmmaker and actor based in Los Angeles. She trained at Laine Theatre Arts, UK and began her career as an actor in New York before returning to Sweden to study screenwriting at the esteemed Alma Löv Script Academy '22. Her work centers on female-driven stories that explore complex, often uncomfortable situations with dark humor and a genre-bending approach. An alum of the Cine Qua Non Storylines Lab '22, and Lighthouse Women's Writers' Retreat '24, she has been recognized by the Sundance Script Lab and the USC/Netflix Proof of Concept program. Previous films include the award-winning comedy Hedda Needs Help (2017), psychological thriller Evergreen (2022), horror-comedy Red Flag (2024), which have gained nominations and screened at major genre festivals such as Brooklyn Horror, FilmQuest, and HollyShorts. Malin is currently developing multiple feature film projects including a feature script of "Sauna Sickness", a satirical coming of age-horror "Hell on Earth", a dramedy-murder mystery " Rehearsal Dinner".
