BIOGRAPHIE

Alexander David became known to the film world from his role in the film "To Die Like a Man", premiered at Cannes' Un Certain Regard in 2009. As an actor he has worked with directors such as Gabriel Abrantes, João Botelho, Rita Nunes, Miguel Clara Vasconcelos, Márcio Laranjeira and, of course, João Pedro Rodrigues. Alexander David has supported several directors as their casting director as well, having collaborated with Catarina Vasconcelos and Aurélie Pernet Oliveira, among others. Studied Acting at Lisbon’s national Theatre and Film School, and before that graduated in Theater Studies at the University of Évora. His debut film as a director, "First Age" (A Primeira Idade) premiered at the IFFR - Int. Film Fest. Rotterdam's Bright Future program, in January 2023. "Water Hazard" is his short-film debut and the first film directed by Alexander David with professional funding, having been supported by Centre National du Cinema, ARTE TV and Portuguese film fund Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual.
