Naomi Pacifique

BIOGRAPHIE

Naomi Pacifique is a Swiss-Dutch artist. She grew up in Lausanne, Switzerland, and moved to the UK to pursue her multi-disciplinary practice at 18 years old. She graduated from Oxford University with an Mst in Creative Writing and from London Film School with an MA in Filmmaking. Her graduation film from London Film School, 'after a room', was awarded the Pardino d'Argento Swiss Life at the 74th edition of Locarno Film Festival in August 2021. Across the arts, Naomi’s work interests itself in intimacy and deep ecology, exploring the spaces found there to discover and reinvent both oneself and the environment one is surrounded by. In 2022, she was part of Berlinale Talents and also took part in the Apichatpong Weerasethakul Lab: Filming in the Rainforest, where she directed a film in the Amazon rainforest. She is currently developing her first feature film ‘after the night, the night’, which took part in the 2023 edition of the Ikusmiera Berriak residency of San Sebastian International Film Festival, where it was subsequently awarded the Elea Media Post-production Award at the festival’s co-production market in 2023. The film also took part in ECAM’s Start Me Up residency 2023 and Locarno Film Festival’s feature film residency in 2022. She is co-founder and co-director of Idle Eye production company and collective, alongside Rafael Manuel and Albert Kuhn. She is currently based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with secondary bases in both Geneva, Switzerland, and Lima, Peru.
