BIOGRAPHIE

Theresa Büchner (*1993, Aachen, Germany) develops visual works with a focus on film, photography and text. Making use of visual and verbal narrative tools she precisely selects motifs from her surroundings to form narratives which evoke the poetic attraction of the everyday – not as an end in itself, but to point towards underlying patterns of thought and behaviour as well as to challenge their common acceptance. The refusal with ones ascribed role and the construction of ones own reality and identity are recurring themes in her practice. Theresa Büchner graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2018. She returend to Germany in 2019 to complete her studies at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Her short film "Demolding a Daughter" premiered at the Nederlands Film Festival and was nominated for the Steenbergen Photography Prize in 2018. She worked as Script/Continuity on Ronny Trockers feature film "Human Factors" (2021) and as a producer for various productions in Germany. In summer 2021 she is awarded a scholarship as artist in residence at AAIR in Antwerp.
