BIOGRAPHIE

Film director and reporter with extensive professional experience in the Middle East - Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq - and North Africa - Tunisia, Egypt, Libya. He also took part in different projects related to the conditions of migrants in Europe and in the Mediterranean area. In addition to his professional track record, he holds a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Perugia, Italy. He is an accomplished author with several works to his name published on Italian and international newspapers and collaborations with UN agencies. In 2014 he produced and directed the feature film documentary “Eu 013 l'Ultima Frontiera” (the Last Frontier) that had its World Premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in 2014 and was selected in many film festival in Europe, USA, South America; received a special mention as the best political documentary film at the Aegean Doc in 2014 and another one as best social documentary at the Human Rights Film Festival of Paris; it was also broadcasted by the UNTV in the States and distributed on iTunes. In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious journalistic prize Maria Grazia Cutuli by Corriere della Sera, the first Italian newspaper. Also in 2012, he was a finalist for the Ilaria Alpi award with his documentary on Libya post-Gaddafi committed by the Italian public channel RAI3. As an artist, he participated in the Venice Biennale of Architecture directed by Rem Koolhaas, and expose his work in several prestigious galleries. Since 2016 he started to work as a scriptwriter and director for cinema. Moreover, he is the founder of Zabbara, a cultural association based in Palermo that promotes the empowerment and awareness of subjects at risk of social exclusion, creating theoretical-practical pathways of storytelling and participatory cinema. In 2020 he directed "Jabal" a short movie starring Mimmo Cuticchio.
