Spyros Skandalos is a film director and screenwriter born in Athens, Greece. He studied Audiovisual Arts and Pedagogy of Visual Arts at the Ionian University. His first short fiction film 'Ilena' received the Best Short Film Award and the Audience Award in the 2nd Short Film Competition of Onassis Cultural Center. Also, the Greek Society of Cinematographers awarded the film for its cinematography. In 2017, he directed eight episodes of 'Water Tales', a travel documentary series for the Greek Public Television, and the short documentary 'I think about the girls who fell in love', which premiered in the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. His second short documentary, 'Leva' has been selected by film festivals in Argentina, Italy, Bangladesh, UK and Greece. 'Horsepower', Spyros' latest short was awarded with the Special Jury Award, the Cinematography Award and the GSC Visual Storytelling Award in 44th Drama International Short Film Festival. In Athens International Film Festival, 'Horsepower' won the Golden Athena - Best Short Film Award and the Best Female Acting Award. Spyros is currently developing a new short which is a social sci-fi project.
