BIOGRAPHIE

Shadi is a writer, director and filmmaker with an insatiable ambition to tell stories that challenge conventions. Her passion for film started from the age of five. As the daughter of working immigrants, she was often left at home by herself and it was in these times that she discovered the world through cinema. It gave her connection, purpose, imagination and reprieve. Whilst her introduction to cinema was over twenty years ago, Shadi has captured and then communicated these early sentiments through her current work, and this is what makes her approach to storytelling unique. In her films, Shadi embeds her own experience of grappling with trauma to spotlight narratives of the wounded through raw and subversive creative direction. ‘Respect The Kink’ is Shadi’s directorial debut which is currently on the film festival circuit.
