BIOGRAPHIE

Chris Zahariev is 23 years old film director, born and raised in Bulgaria. He's currently finishing "Film Directing" bachelor in the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. Through the years he has shot & directed a documentary in Thailand, funded by the Ministry of Tourism Thailand, led a workshop in Sarajevo Youth Film Festival, did a TEDx talk, created a YouTube channel with over 86,000 subscribers, wrote a best selling book called "Getting Lost on Purpose" and was awarded "The Outstanding Young Person of Bulgaria" by the President of Bulgaria for his short films and social media projects, connecting young people to social causes. His first feature documentary “Getting Lost On Purpose” went viral, currently having more than 1,6 million views on YouTube. His first short fiction film "The Bicycle" was nominated for "Best Bulgarian Short Film" at Sofia International Film Fest. In 2020 Chris won the “Flight in Art Award” by Stoyan Kambarev Foundation - the most prestigious award for a young artist in Bulgaria. The same year he represented Bulgaria in the European Youth Jury for Giornate degli Autori section in the Venice International Film Festival as well as being co-host for “Got Talent Bulgaria”. His last short crime comedy “One Elevator Apart” has just started its festival life with selection in the Oscar Qualifying Festival “In The Palace 2022” and the VGIK International Student Film Festival 2021. Chris believes that good stories can change the world.
