BIOGRAPHIE

Gabriella Blumberg is a SAFTA-winning South African Director and Producer with a drive to create compelling, impactful stories. Gabriella is the Producer of the Award Winning feature documentary “I Am Here” (2021) and Afrikaans short film “Leemtes en Leegheid (A Void)” (2021). She is a Durban Talents alumnus (2022) and is a recipient of the International Alumni of the Year Award at the PIEoneer Awards (2022) in London on behalf of her success as an alumni of the MET Film School Masters programme. Before the international success of her films at festivals worldwide, she was chosen to represent The University of Witwatersrand at The International Filmmaking Academy in Bologna (2016). Gabriella has worked extensively in the Breast Health space. She has directed and produced short films such as the documentary “Near not Far” (2019) which successfully rallied the South African Government to set up a breast cancer screening unit in Mpumalanga. Her television adverts about breast health were screened on 200 slots on DSTV both in 2021 and 2022. Gabriella is committed to using storytelling as a means to break stigma and spark conversation. Gabriella was selected to pitch a short film at La Petite Fabrique at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and Short Film Market in 2023.
