Bio Miguel Raymond 2022 Miguel Raymond graduated in Communication from the University of Quebec in Montreal and also received training in special effects at the Graphic Institute of Technology in Tokyo. (GIT) under the direction of the artist Ko Nakajima. In the 80s, Miguel Raymond quickly established an enviable reputation as a video artist, director and editor. For nearly 25 years, he has created and contributed to a wide variety of works and has won several awards both in Canada and abroad. His passion and creativity have allowed him to explore several artistic genres. As a video artist, he was known for exploring revolutionary ideas and technologies. His first experimental videotape is called "TV Screen". This one was quickly noticed and acquired by the Museum of Contemporary Art (M.A.C.) for its permanent collection. Miguel Raymond creates several videotapes and also signs the creation of video installations like "Ages de Vie" which is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art (M.A.C.). In addition, he collaborates on numerous works with artists in dance, performance, theater, documentary and video art. From Video84 with the "Platform Video" installation at the M.A.C., via the "Out" video opera created with Alain Thibeault in 1986, his creative career was very noticed and his research led him to the development of a video creation tool: The "Videotizer", a matrix of 8 video inputs distributed over 64 outputs, all controlled by noon and able to be played live. From stage work to installations, from performance to videotape, his work is integral to the emergence of Canada's digital art scene. His interest in new technologies led him to pursue his research. In 1991, he won, as co-creator of the play "The Other Left" at the Banff Center for the Arts, the "Best Human-Machine Integration" Award from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston. Miguel Raymond is now an artist, independent director. In recent years, he has collaborated in the creation of video projections for Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson One in Las Vegas. He also worked with Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon on the multi-media work "Cité Mémoire" which was launched in 2016 and 2017 as part of the celebrations for the 375th anniversary of the city of Montreal. Dans les années 80, Miguel Raymond s'est rapidement forgé une réputation enviable en tant qu'artiste vidéo, réalisateur et monteur. Depuis près de 25 ans, il en crée et contribue à une grande variété d'œuvres et a remporté plusieurs prix tant au Canada et qu'à l'étranger. Sa passion et sa créativité lui ont permis d'explorer plusieurs genres artistiques. Comme artiste vidéo, il était reconnu pour explorer des idées et des technologies révolutionnaires. Sa première bande vidéo expérimentale s'intitule "TV Screen". Celle-ci fut rapidement remarquée et acquise par le Musé d'Art Contemporain (M.A.C.) pour sa collection permanente. Miguel Raymond crée plusieurs bandes vidéo et signe aussi la création d'installations vidéo comme "Âges de Vie" qui fait partie de la collection permanente du Musé d'Art Contemporain (M.A.C.). De plus, il collabore à de nombreuses œuvres avec des artistes en danse, performance, théatre , documentaire et art video. De Vidéo84 avec l'installation "Plateform Video" au M.A.C., en passant par L'Opéra vidéo "Out" créé avec Alain Thibeault en 1986, son parcours créatif fut très remarqué et ses recherches l'amènent au développement d'un instrument de création vidéo: Le "Vidéotizer", matrice de 8 entrées vidéo distribuées sur 64 sorties le tout contrôlé par midi et pouvant être joué live. De travail scénique aux installations, de la performance aux bandes vidéo, son travail fait partie intégrante de l'émergence de la scène de l'art numérique du Canada. Son intérêt pour les nouvelles technologies l'ont amené à poursuivre ses recherches. En 1991, il a remporté, en tant que co-créateur de la pièce «L'Autre Gauche» au Banff Center for the Arts, le Prix "Meilleure intégration homme-machine" du Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) de Boston. Miguel Raymond est maintenant un artiste, réalisateur indépendant. Dans les dernières années, il a collaboré à la création des projections vidéo pour Michael Jackson One du Cirque du Soleil à Las Vegas. Il a aussi travaillé avec Michel Lemieux et Victor Pilon sur l'œuvre multimédia "Cité Mémoire" qui a été lancé en 2016 et 2017 dans le cadre des célébrations du 375e de la ville de Montréal. Depuis, il signes plusieurs œuvres, dont entre autres, les productions expérimentales "Un dia en la vida" et "Prélude à la Lune" en 2021
