Luigi Liu

BIOGRAPHIE

Luigi Liu is a filmmaker based in Beijing/LA. He was born in Beijing and came to the US to study film, where he finds himself overwhelmed and collided with the way two places have similar social issues but dealing with such different approaches, and how individuals are coping with these issues on a daily basis. His interest in youth culture and social issue has let him to direct and participate in series of short docs focusing on issues like young LGBT and Adderall abuse in China, which were published on Al Jazeera and Sixth Tone. He has also translated the theatrical script of <War Horse> (EN-CN), and volunteered in doing translating work for a LGBT NGO in ShenZhen and the only rehab NGO in Beijing. As a kid Luigi enjoyed playing truant until one day he climbed down a 6-floor-high water pipeline to avoid getting caught and he realized truant is bad.
