Parish Malfitano is an Italian Australian filmmaker who draws on his migrant heritage to create films about uncertainty, discomfort, and his diaspora. A 2018 graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), during the completion of both the Foundation Diploma and Bachelor of Arts Screen, he worked on several short film projects, learning, and adapting his skills as a writer, director, producer, editor, cinematographer, and sound designer, along with pursuing his interest in film photography. Produced and released, within only a few years of graduating from film school, Parish’s debut, Bloodshot Heart, has succeeded in screening at various film festivals, including the Australian premiere at the Perth Film Festival, Fantastic Film Festival, as well as a limited cinema run at the Ritz, Sydney and Lido, Melbourne, and various regional cities around Australia. So far the film has also been accepted into numerous festivals internationally in Brazil, Shanghai, Mexico, Italy, and America.His long-term ambition entails the writing of new librettos and stage productions of novel opera, extending beyond reinvigorating the existing canon.In 2018, Parish founded the company Bloodshot Pictures. Parish is currently developing his next feature, Salt along the Tongue.
