The films of Edward de Jong (Amsterdam, 1994) show his dedication to authentically depicting everyday life, as well as his passion for working with actors. His films are social-realistic with a comedic slant, have an observational style and an unconventional story structure. During his study at the Netherlands Film Academy, he developed his signature both inside and outside the academy through short films, web series, commercials and music videos. His third-year film Splitting (2022), a hang-out/screwball comedy film about class difference, was selected at Go Short International Film Festival and ShortCutz Amsterdam in 2023. His short slice-of-life film Suni (2022) - co-directed by Rosa Kreulen - about street harassment premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival and became one of the first short films in Dutch film history to receive a theatrical release.
