Lei Jia is a screenwriter and director, an enthusiastic cinephile and film scholar, the founder of Phosphene Pictures, and the jury member of the Hollywood Gold Awards. He finished his Film and TV Directing BFA degree at The Central Academy of Drama in Beijing and graduated from ArtCenter College of Design with an MFA in Film Production. His passion is for humanistic stories which define what is common among people rather than what separates us. Lei's first feature screenplay, MOM’S POSTCARD, won the Creative Screenplay Award of the Xiayan Screenplay Cup, the only screenplay competition hosted by the China Film Administration. His second feature screenplay, THE OTHER SON, is a Finish Line Script Competition Quarter-Finalist and the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival Semi-Finalist. The Oscar-qualifying BronzeLens Film Festival selected the short film NIGHT ENCOUNTER (2021), which he directed.
