Meritxell Aumedes

BIOGRAPHIE

Meritxell Aumedes was born in Barcelona and is currently based in Berlin. She works as a performance- and video artist. Her versatile work brings to a new level of significance the combination between dance, performance and video art. Aumedes audiovisual installations and dance films have been presented internationally. To mention some of the curated festival screenings: POOL Dance Film Platform in Berlin, Short Waves Festival in Póznan, Art Video Köln in Cologne, Dança em Foco in Rio de Janeiro, IDN Festival in Barcelona, ShortDanceFilms in Hellerau, Dance & Theatre Festival in Gothenburg...etc. Her physical cinema works "mindsight" was chosen to be part of the touring programm of Modul Dance, which gives visibility to international dance films of the highest quality that also engage in a creative, innovative dialogue with some of the models of filmic writing emerging in the contemporary world. She collaborates as well with other choreographers to create video stage designs and has specialised in immersive and site-specific performances with special focus in sensorial experiencing. Aumedes obtained her MfA in Contemporary Performative Arts from the Gothenburg University (Sweden), Multimedia Certificates at the Open University in Barcelona (Spain) and her Dance Diploma at the University for Dance and Music in Cologne (Germany).
