Villő Krisztics is a film director, originally from Budapest. She moved to London to pursue her career and is currently an MA Directing student at the National Film and Television School. Her directorial and screenwriting debut, “My Cat as Socrates” is about the Greek philosopher returning as a stray cat. The film won the Best Student Short Award at the European Independent Film Festival in 2020, along with other selections. In the same year, she was awarded a generous budget by the Hungarian National Film Institute, for her first collaboration with them. The short film, titled “Puliszka” is based on a Transylvanian myth, that today we know to be true. Her goal is to make movies about today's problems and dilemmas, but to tell them through her own unique perspective and style. She is a big fan of magical realism and the absurd. She often chooses topics about femininity and female struggles, and is currently working on various films and series ideas that are from a female perspective.
