Rati Oneli is a Georgian filmmaker. He was born in Tbilisi and spends his time between New York, NY and Tbilisi, Georgia. Since childhood obsessed with creating and animating imaginary worlds in my mind. At age 11 ran away from home protesting my middle-class parents who were against my “artistic” career. Was a problem child at school and a well-known hooligan. Professionally raced horses for five years until age 14; concurrently graduated from musical school and high school with honors. Recipient of several US scholarships in high school and in college to study in the United States. Received M.A. in History and Cultures of the Middle East from the Free University of Georgia and Master of International Affairs from Columbia University. Have passion for languages and speak Russian, English, French and Arabic, in addition to native Georgian. Never attended a film school and learned filmmaking independently. Recently completed first short film THEO and currently work on post-production of another short film “IT’S NOT MY LIFE.”
