Erica Long is a Taiwanese / Australian actor, producer and writer based in Sydney and ‘The Pool’ is her directorial debut. While confined to the four walls of her home during one of the Sydney COVID-19 lockdowns, she developed an empathy for the objects around her because they too were confined to their own ‘four walls’. She subsequently made ‘The Pool’ to reflect this newfound empathy and raise stroke awareness, being something she has been passionate about since her partner’s dad moved into her family home after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke. To do this, she partnered up with the Stroke Recovery Association NSW and Mt Wilga Private Rehabilitation Hospital and she was also lucky enough to score a mentoring session with Oscar winner Robert Mackenzie (Hacksaw Ridge, Power of the Dog). Erica has since directed and produced several music videos and is actively developing her future projects. Outside of filmmaking, Erica is a solicitor and cat lady who loves to daydream. Her dream is to one day work with Spike Jonze.
