Michael Mante is a British/Ghanaian writer-director whose parents both grew up in Accra. His first short film was Body Language, a short art film made with C4’s Random Acts that played in selection at the 2018 London Short Film Festival. Since then he has written and directed his first narrative short film, the BFI Network supported Sandpaper, which played at various film festivals. Sandpaper won best UK Short film at Bolton Film Festival and was a nominated for Best UK Short at Raindance Film Festival in 2020. Michael Mante is currently in post-production for a BFI Network supported short film titled Small Hours which focuses on a commemorative ritual amongst a Ghanaian family.
