Huang Meng Wen was born in Taiwan. She graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts with an MFA in Trans-disciplinary Arts. Within her academic background in sociology and film art, she combines the two as her artistic practice and her image style also combines film methods with contemporary art video, interweaving the narrative image aesthetics in photography and video. As an artist born and raised in Taiwan, her artworks focus on the historical perspective that revolves around women and queers under the sex and gender contexts in Taiwan's modern history. Through discussing sex work and the nation's marginalized history, she aims to reflect on the female issues in modern East Asian history. Her works had been invited to attend lots of exhibitions such as VideoBardo International Videopoetry Festival, Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival.
