BIOGRAPHIE

Aanchal is a filmmaker based between London and Mumbai. Having grown up in Delhi, India, she moved to London to study law, where she stayed on to practice as a Solicitor at a Magic Circle law firm for 6 years. Aanchal then attended MetFilm School in London, graduating in 2022, and has since made two short films. The first, "Haklu", is a narrative fiction based on a domestic worker who travels to the United Kingdom on an Overseas Domestic Worker Visa and the modern slavery conditions he experiences, and the second, "Beyond Disco" is a documentary based on LA based record label Discostan and Nermin Niazi's 1984 album, "Beyond Disco". Aanchal is interested in giving a voice to subaltern narratives that draw on perspectives from the Global South, particularly on social and cultural themes that are important to the internationally-minded global citizen.
