BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] Biography: Jazz is an award-winning Cuban/British theatre and film director. He obtained his M.A. (Distinction) in Theatre Direction at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, LAMDA. In 2017 founded La Montaña Productions, in Havana, Cuba. His theatre productions include, 'The Lonesome West' by Martin McDonagh, an all-female cast of 'Richard III' by William Shakespeare (the national prize for Best Direction 2018) 'Equus' by Peter Shaffer (nominated best director 2019). 'Medea' by Euripides, and 'Miss Julie' by Strindberg. In 2022 he co-wrote and directed his debut short 'Santos', that was selected for the Cuban Cinema Stand selection for the 2023 Clermont-Ferrand Festival. His second short film 'The Stain', was selected for the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, Euroconnection / La Petite Fabrique (Development) 2023. Jazz recently completed 'The Fish Tank', his third short film, written and directed by himself. He's currently developing his debut feature 'Whisper of the Birds” (provisional title).
