Ville Gobi

BIOGRAPHIE

Ville Gobi (b. 1993) is a director and screenwriter from Stockholm. In high school, he began writing for the Royal Dramatic Theatre’s poetry ensemble, and shortly after graduation, he received a scholarship to study film in the US. After four years of stage performances and studies between New York and Los Angeles, he returned to Sweden in 2018 to pursue directing full time. Since then, he has worked with visual storytelling in the form of video installations, performance art, music videos, and short films — all in parallel with writing for the stage. He is currently developing a trilogy of films about his family. The first, Tin Soldiers & Crawdads, won Best Film at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2023. The second chapter, A Real Swedish Midsommar, had its world premiere in 2024, and the final film is slated for 2026.
