Tonya Komarova

BIOGRAPHIE

Born in Moscow, Russia. Began her film studies in the UK at Arts University Bournemouth. Later, worked as a videographer with modern artists and galleries in Moscow (Pobegi art collective, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, V-A-C Foundation's GES-2 House of Culture). At 19, released her first short documentary film "Konechno!", which was picked up for Beat Film Festival 2021 and screened in cinemas. The film follows Yasha, a 14-year-old musician and his band "Zavodoy!" as they make their way onto Moscow's indie music scene. Continued her studies at HSE Art and Design School in Moscow. In 2022, Tonya was awarded a scholarship for attending l'Université d'été de La Fémis in Paris. During l'Université d'été, she directed a film "Demon Slayer Fin Août" about a group of teenage friends from a parisian suburb who recreate a scene from their favorite manga in an abandoned abbey. Currently studies Cinéma et audiovisuel at Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris.
