BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] Aella is a writer-director from London and New York with a background in theatre and literature. She directed a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, worked in commercial production, and directed music videos. In 2021, she worked on Netflix's Bridgerton Series 2. Aella uses metaphors and symbolism to explore emotions and the world around her. Her work, including Misnomer (2022) and Just A Weekend (2023), has been screened at BIFA and BAFTA qualifying film festivals. Misnomer follows a couple navigating a gender transition, while Just A Weekend explores the tension between a mother-daughter dynamic and a first queer relationship. Aella has been exploring how genre filmmaking can bring audiences into the subjective experience of a character.
