BIOGRAPHIE

Kurdish, born in 1993 in Bitlis, Özmen graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Film Design. His debut short “Beyoğlu Cinema” screened in over 50 national and international film festivals and received 15 awards. The film's success led to its screening at 45 universities across Turkey, making it the most awarded short film in Turkey for 2016-17. His second short “Karganın Aşınan Gagası” received support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye and screened in a number of festivals. Özmen’s last project “Minus One” received support from the EU Civil Think Fund and was awarded “Best Short Film Script” at the Luma Film Festival Pitching Forum. Currently, he is in development phase of his first feature film “Mecca Hotel”. Özmen explores social and political themes in his films while infusing them with a sense of humor. Apart from his work as a Director he is also known for collaborating with various prominent filmmakers of Türkiye as an Assisting Director, including Ruken Tekeş, Emin Alper and Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun.
