David Espel Sánchez

BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] David Espel (Barcelona, 1998) is a multidisciplinary filmmaker whose body of work builds a bridge between the initiation rite and cinema from a poetic perspective. The short films “Lorazepam” and “I Can't Find my Last Dreams” are his latest explorations of a desire to find vestiges of a fragmented internal reality in each subject. David is currently in the process of developing his first feature film “In my Dreams, I Love You…”; a film focused on reconnecting with a legacy of ancestral mothers on the path of honoring his own mother through the initiation rite. As a multidisciplinary filmmaker, David works with other artistic mediums such as photography and painting to make his creations. This way of operating has led him to present an exhibition of the same name as his feature film at the “Matiz Gallery” and at the “Drassanes Civic Center”. David is part of the production company “Vidas Pasadas Films”, a group of multidisciplinary filmmakers and artists whose paths converge in cinema. Finding new ways of expression through sound and visual arts that transform the schemes and dynamics of film production, creating a cinema that listens to the uniqueness of each work, without imposing standardized production structures.
