BIOGRAPHIE

Kai Luo (罗政凯) , born in Shenzhen, Guangdong, and now based in Boston, is a filmmaker and performance artist exploring the complex, often-overlooked dynamics of contemporary urban life. After earning a bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics, he distanced himself from urban constraints by living remotely in Dêgê, Tibet—a transformative experience that reshaped his creative vision. Now pursuing an MFA in Media Art and Film at Emerson College, Kai’s work scrutinizes societal norms, offering observations on the subtle, de-individualizing pressures that encourage conformity and obscure true identity. Using his body as a provocative tool, his debut short film, Holy Ghost Conversation, premiered at the Festival de San Sebastián, questioning constructs of authenticity and self-representation. Filmography: First film.
