[EN] Billie JD Porter is a London-born, LA-based journalist and filmmaker, whose documentary work has been featured on Vice, Vogue, Channel 4, NRK, ABC and the BBC. Her journey to develop this film was born from her own difficult experiences with hormonal contraception, sparking a deep dive into the shocking, and often maddening, reasons we’ve not seen any viable male birth control methods reach the market already. She has been developing the short documentary It's Different For Girls since 2019. Gender inequality is a topic that has consistently run through the heart of Billie’s work as a journalist, having previously reported on issues including: criminalized abortions in Argentina, sex-work across Europe, the pressure to marry in China, and the dowry system in Bangladesh.
