BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] Samuca’s Beach marks the directorial debut of Brazilian filmmaker Louraidan. In addition to his work as a director, he is a screenwriter, playwright and writer. A queer artist, Louraidan is the creator and screenwriter of the feature film project Selvagem, which was selected for some of Brazil’s most prestigious script development labs: Laboratório Novas Histórias (São Paulo), Brasil CineMundi (Minas Gerais), Sesc Argumenta (Rio de Janeiro) and NPA (Paraná). As a screenwriter, he also wrote his first short film, Encontro Você no Final, produced by the Brazilian companies Nossa Senhora dos Filmes and Café Pingado Filmes. Louraidan is also an award-winning playwright. He wrote the stage play Uma Tendência para Alegria, which received the Sinparc Prize for Best Play - Minas Gerais’ most important performing arts award. The play was produced by the Brazilian theater group Cia. 5 Cabeças, in co-production with Nossa Senhora dos Filmes. His debut book, Escafandrista, is a collection of stories gathered from the streets of various Brazilian cities and countries such as Morocco, Cuba and England. The book was presented and prefaced by the renowned Brazilian cartoonist Laerte Coutinho.
