BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] A scholar and cinephile, Yuga J Vardhan has received numerous awards for his academic recognition as well as have had his films travel around the world creating fine grounds for future endeavours. An acquaintance with acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap further deepened his interest in Cinema leading him to produce and direct, Children of Tomorrow, a documentary that spoke about the plight of old folks imprisoned against their will in a home looked after by cynical caretakers. The film was screened alongside his two shorts. Rain and Mirror at regional Film Festivals curated by Malaysian writer and Filmmaker Amir Muhammad. His short film, When Mirrors Had Meaning won the Singapore Mental Health Film Festival's Short Film Competition. The film is also an Official Selection at the 20th Kansas International Film Festival, the 28th Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival and the 16th New York City Mental Health Film Festival 2020. His production, Dark Light a short fillm won awards at National Youth Film Awards 2021. His recent film, The sea between us had its World Premiere at the 20th New York Asian Film Festival and won Best Screenplay at the National Youth Film Awards, Singapore 2022. The film was also a finalist at Viddsee Juree Awards'22. In 2023, Yuga received Singapore Film Commission’s Short Film Grant, and completed his most recent short film, The Last Rites. His creativity, resourcefulness, and gift of the gab paved the way for him along the way, giving him a vast range of experiences in different types of media content. Presently, Yuga J Vardhan produces and directs corporate videos, documentaries, television series creating diverse experiences for himself and continues to strive at making meaningful content steeped in nostalgia and cultural backdrop.
