Voicu Muresanu

BIOGRAPHIE

[EN] Voicu Mureșanu is a documentary filmmaker interested in intimate portrayals of marginal worlds and in the fragile boundaries between what seems fictional and real. Since 2020, he has been conducting in-depth research into the world of contemporary witches, even spending two years living within a witch community in Mogoșoaia, on the outskirts of Bucharest. Fascinated by the gap between public perception and the real lives of these women, he gained access and managed to document this interesting world from within—through their kitchens, their rituals, and their daily routines. As a director, Voicu, works in a purely observational style, with no intervention, relying on an empathetic closeness to his subjects and the natural rhythm of their lives. The film’s aesthetic is naturalistic: handheld shots, discreet presence in sensitive moments, and an editing pace that invites reflection. Blessed continues his artistic pursuit of deconstructing exoticism and building human portraits that go beyond stereotypes of this apparent exotic topic.
