[EN] Simon Folger is a screenwriter and director with roots in music. and the history of ideas. He was born in Lidköping, Sweden, in 1991 and is currently based in Malmö, Sweden. Since 2018, he has been running the production company BOOA, taking on roles as director, segment producer, and radio creator, among other things. His artistic vision is to evoke emotions and life questions that rarely surface, using a distinctive sense of humor and a fascination with the uncomfortable. His projects often lie at the intersection of activism and science, with a sweet mix of absurd realism. Simon has written and directed/co-directed three short films: The Authentic Self (2022), which won a Special Mention at the Tampere International Film Festival, and Notello Hus (2023), which premiered at Nordisk Panorama the same year. ¿Hablas Español? (2025) marks the third and final film in his short film trilogy, The Duo Trilogy, which explores male friendship and existential questions in an everyday context. Folger also stars as one of the two main characters in each of these films. At the beginning of 2024, Folger received funding to develop the script for his first feature film, MEN’S WORK. In early 2025, he also received funding to develop his second feature film, Political Havoc. In addition to recognition at festivals, Folger has been honored with an Honorable Mention at the Pixel Talent Award, won the Anagram Screenwriting Grant, been selected to participate in Bergman Week’s Talent Days on Fårö, and received Sparbanksstiftelsen Skåne’s Cultural Scholarship of €15,000 for young film talents.
