SYNOPSIS

[EN] ‘Gods of Clay’ is a short documentary looking at the art and artists of Kumortuli, a community in Kolkata, India who use traditional methods to craft idols for religious ceremonies. The film is a quiet observation of the artists at work, their studios, and workshops surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a major metropolis. There is no on-camera interview or a narration track. The only voices heard are those of the artists talking about their art and life in voiceovers.
