[EN] Paradise Lost 2019 is a 9-minute 52-second Poetry Shorts born from my observation of modern individuals’ inner disorientation. To my perspective, Satan in “Paradise Lost” embodies, in a sense, a revolutionary figure. Thus, I adopt an alternative viewpoint—starting from the Devil/Lucifer—to explore the spiritual predicaments of contemporary individuals adrift in technological torrents and identity flux. Through core visual motifs—abandoned mannequins, Sunday services in Henan villages, the urban haze of Hong Kong, and oneiric amusement parks—the film employs a non-linear collage of audiovisual language (handheld long takes, thermal imaging, pixelated game aesthetics, etc.) to construct a trans-temporal poetic meditation. It serves both as my philosophical reflection on China’s past development and fragmented individual identities, and as a cinematic contemplation of collective unconsciousness, vanished paradises, and memory reconstruction. Ultimately, it seeks to evoke a profound existential resonance within the audience—finding gravity within nothingness.
