[EN] “There is a saying, ‘God willing,’ but on the island you say ‘Island willing,’ as if the island was an entity...” "Island Willing" is a multigenerational portrait of Chile’s Robinson Crusoe Island, tracing how the community fights for its culture, autonomy, and environment. Named for the sailor who once washed ashore, the Island became home to castaways who now see themselves as endemic. When it was declared a National Park, residents were displaced and farming banned, setting off a cascade of consequences. In response top-down conservation policies, islanders reclaim stewardship on their own terms—with the Island as both setting and protagonist.
